However, this book went beyond my expectations to a whole new level.

The Comte d’Esmond, an admirer of Leila’s and secret government agent, is tasked with finding out chxse murderer. I discovered, after reading Lord of Scoundrelsthat it was part of a series, and there were lroetta books which czptives before it. But my primary pleasure in this book is the breath-taking dance of seduction between Leila and Esmond. You think her feelings regarding that would have been even worse afterwards. Having the entire story be nothing but shades of gray absolutely drove me to distraction.

It was there that she met a video producer who inspired her to write novels and marry him. With a little more effort from the listener, Chase and narrator K. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving assface. Leila, now a talented portrait painter, finds herself utterly disgusted with her savior. For her, the trouble started when she learned to write in first grade. It took me awhile to get into this, but once I did I really liked it.

I was rather afraid, reading about the Big Misunderstanding that was trailed from about a third of the book, a bit silly off device which is very often used and abused in such novels. Unfortunately, I just didn’t feel the connection between the hero and heroine here in the same way. I will certainly not hesitate in downloading anything this talented pair have collaborated on.
She contents herself with the artistic career she’s developed separate from her husband, and refuses to be a victim, although she still harbours certain body and sexual issues thanks to her husband’s unkind manipulations.
Even though the evil husband could have been killed by anybody under the sun, they conveniently focus on 5 people from their circle because “their instincts told them to” and don’t seem to investigate anybody else. But Chase did a good job of redeeming him.
It’s danger that unites them and it’s danger that chains their hearts: Esmond’s got secrets to hide – one in particular dealing chaae Leila’s own troubled past. I decided to get another one of Loretta Chase’s books once I was finished with Lord of scoundrels. And yet they have to work together and she slowly begins to unpick his story and find out more about him, much against his will. Kate Reading subtly changes the accent but not the voice, very impressive.
Because of my knowledge of his misdeeds in the previous book, I personally was never able to fully buy into the notion of Ismal as the hero. Bagaimana tidak, jika gaya bahasanya apalagi dialog-dialognya penuh gombal dan keabsurdan tingkat dewa.
He was a bit of a Douchebag Supreme. The two of them are required to collaborate The story of Leila Beaumont, unhappily married artist whose husband is murdered and she becomes the lorftta suspect, and Comte D’Esmond, the investigator sent to solve the mystery of his death.
What would have made this romance irresistible? Niggt was a master manipulator, and it takes Leila a long time to realise and deal with the ways he messed her up. Not sure if that was entirely the effect the cover designers were looking for. It is hard to take a villain from a prior book and make Hard to rate. While she hasn’t allowed him in her bed for years, Leila is nonetheless grateful to Francis for rescuing her when she was orphaned in Ve Leila Beaumont is a beautiful and very talented portrait artist, as celebrated throughout Europe as her husband, Francis, is becoming reviled.

Leila is also a fascinating character, a passionate artist struggling with self-loathing after she finds out her father was a criminal and a traitor. However, the writing here may be a little different, but it did not detract whatsoever from the meat of the story, the interaction of the main characters or the intrigue. The investigation promises to be lengthy and tedious, since there are no obvious leads and scores of people with good reason to want Francis dead.
Captives of the Night is the second book in what I have sometimes seen called the Scoundrels series. Ternyata banyak tersangka yg punya motif tertentu utk menghabisi nyawa Francis, almarhum suami Leila. This is one of Loretta Chase’s older books released inthe successor to “The Ot Daughter,” and the one preceding “Lord of Scoundrels. As much as I don’t miss the euphemisms, I do miss the tbe seductions that used to precede outright sex in romantic fiction. Otherwise though, Leila just wasn’t very relatable to me.
The story is intriguing and beguiling, oft funny, and wonderfully romantic. She made the Leila Beaumont into a violent tempered shrew who can stand up to her morally corrupt husband and and whose tantrums lead to her being the suspect in her husband’s murder.
Because of his skillful maneuvering she is acquitted but she must help a quiet investigation, initiated by government officials. She expresses her passions through her art, and avoids her husband and his disgusting friends as much as possible.
