A delightful romantic suspense novel with a twist, I recommend it to all fans of the author. And JAK does it again.
Plus they have their non-heroic moments, something that I always appreciate. The story is told in 3rd kretz, mainly Abby or Sam. Sam is a bit of a recluse. Fairly nice read if you like JAK.

But the dark legacy is also the paranormal ability that Sam, Judson, and Emma got when the powerful energy in the mine “zapped” the DNA in the three not-yet-born children’s father, Elias. I always enjoy a new book by JAK.

Plus, the author lost points because of the lengthy info dumping scene, towards the end. I think my only real complaint was with a few of the sex scenes. There was all that stuff about psychic burn which we are used to in that series. She is a comfort read for me. The dynamics between the two of them as they slowly find their way to romance was very engaging. Besides, she needs a bodyguard and someone to interrupt her sleepwalking episodes, during which she tends to set things on fire.
The chemistry between them is lovely and believable, but does not yield all that much relatively speaking in the way of intensity or heat, so if you prefer that kind of thing, the material in this book may be a bit on the tame side for you.
Together Sam and Abby search for the lost book with murder and mayhem all around them and some unlikely help along the way. I cannot wait for the sequels where we will meet Sam’s siblings and learn more thier parents and the experiment that literally blew coppe around them.

Count me out, I’m done. Looking for beautiful books? I was really fond of Abby’s dog – Newton – who was, as Sam says, a condo-sized junkyard dog. But this is truly horrible. See 1 question about Copper Beach…. What he finds with Abby is a whole lot more than he bargained for.

However, as a standalone read, this krwntz completely flat for me. Reasonably explicit but infrequent. Krentz did a decent job developing the relationship, even though they do jump into bed the first night, totally ruining the anticipation, sadly. The paranormal aspects in the story – “hot” books and crystals, etc. As anyone who reads my reviews is aware, I’m a big fan of the well-written paranormal romance and Krentz usually delivers on that.
