The original complaint is one I am familiar with, and it’s legit in my opinion – I think the 3BX series II and 4BX both were overly sensitive to HF threshold and less so to LF, at least when calibrated to factory spec.

I think where we differ is that I know that these products can sound good, and I also know they can sound bad though I think some part of that is due to misuse. As noted, the switches tend to be highly intermittent with age, and require regular maintenance.
