Rituals middoe seem inadequate in the modern day, however it helps to recognize awareness exercises and body-mind quotients may be noted best practises in personal development. You have to read it AND practice the exercise.

A core work for advancement of the self. Yes its that good. That’s why I’m pleased that Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero have added an incredible amount of notes to the complete original text in this book and more than doubled its size with new contributions not published elsewhere.
This book really digs deep into your soul. Returned to Europe in at the invitation of Aleister Crowley to work as his secretary and study with him. I’m just glad the Ciceros worked on making this particular book even more accessible.
By using such exercises as the Qabalistic Cross and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, any individual can attain alignment with the universal energies that surround us.

The Ciceros have added good supplemental information which takes up about half the book, sometimes illuminating, sometimes redundant, but worth reading nonetheless–it’s always good to reread something so it can stick in your mind better. We once again have this wonderful tool to offer seekers desiring practical material for entry into piolar world of ceremonial technique. I know I must hand it to this fellow for his foundational work in ceremonial magick, but so much of it is dated and does not align with my own beliefs and ideas. The concepts and methods here owe more than a little to Eastern philosophies and methods of mental training.
